The Designer

Personal Profile

Name: Becky Jones

Location: Los Angeles, California

Role: Founder & Creative Director

At the heart of KALVERE LUMIERE is a passion for fashion design and the quiet craft of building a garment by hand. Every commission begins with a personal conversation about silhouette, mood and the occasion and grows into a design drawn around the individual who will wear it.

From selecting fabric and shaping the pattern to the final hand-finished seam, the work is guided by patience and precision. The result is a piece that fits beautifully, feels deeply personal and is made to be kept for years.

The Maison

A house built on time, not seasons

KALVERE LUMIERE is a made-to-measure atelier rather than a ready-to-wear label. There is no shop floor and no collection calendar only private commissions, cut to one set of measurements.

A gown passes through the hands of a cutter, a première, an embroiderer and a finisher before it is allowed to leave the house. Nothing is rushed; a single bodice may take four fittings.

The Method

The Design Process

Five stages trace a single made-to-measure gown from the first conversation to the final hand-stitched seam.

  1. 01
Designer and client reviewing ivory silk swatches and a gown sketch at the KALVERE LUMIERE atelier

    Consultation

We meet, in the atelier or over a call, to talk through the occasion, the silhouette and the mood.

  2. 02
The designer sketching an ivory silk gown beside fabric colour cards, lace and bead samples

    Sketch

Hand-drawn sketches and fabric swatches are prepared for your approval.

  3. 03
Hands pinning and shaping an ivory silk gown on a dress form during draping in the KALVERE LUMIERE atelier

    Draping

The design is draped in calico on the stand, then the paper pattern is cut to you.

  4. 04

    Fittings

Two to four fittings refine the toile before the final cloth is cut.

  5. 05

    Finishing

Embroidery, beading and hand-finished seams — the last hundred hours.
